Concept to using objects, which are old, damaged or broken, found somewhere on the way, unwanted and not needed any more is an inspiration for creating ‘DENOTE’.
I present them in the way that denotes the uniqueness of every single object allowing each one to appear in the new form. Originally produced in the line of mass production, the objects gained in time on individual identity through damages. Value of corrodes, rust, usage exposes the remarkable beauty. This powerful and fascinating transformation underline their dignity.
Remarkable character of the objects make them look as historical almost ancient although they have been discovered on the ‘modern archaeological sites’ of the street.
Displaying the objects in Hermes boxes is ironic. Socially the brand is recognised as a sign of status. Here the boxes are used as a surface to display old, unwanted, trashed things. Yet in the same time two opposite standards meet and deliver diverse discourse.
The vision allowed to reuse the pieces to their own benefit and metaphorically show the importance and principles of standards, which are very relative anyway.
